Terms & Conditions

Plain-language summary

  • Mythfate is free-to-play and in early access: the game is still in development and may change, and real-money purchases are not active yet. We have no plans to reset your progress.
  • In-game currencies and cards are licences to use content inside Mythfate: they are not money and cannot be sold or traded outside the game.
  • No cheating, bots or bug abuse: matches are validated server-side, and violations may lead to sanctions or account closure.
  • Match telemetry is optional and you choose it: you can play sharing nothing, share data without linking it to your account, or link it to your account. Change it in Settings anytime.
  • Play fair, pick a respectful name, and have fun.

1. Who we are and acceptance of these terms

The video game Mythfate (hereinafter "Mythfate" or "the game") and the website www.mythfate.com are owned by Manuel Villanueva ("the developer", "we"). Contact: soporte@mythfate.com or the form at www.mythfate.com/en/contact.html.

By installing the game, creating an account (including guest mode) or playing, you accept these terms and the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the game.

2. Minimum age

Mythfate is intended for players aged 16 and over. By registering you declare that you are at least 16. If you are under 18, you also declare that you have your parents' or guardians' authorisation, and that they accept these terms on your behalf to the extent required by law.

We set the bar at 16 because part of our data processing (match telemetry and push notifications) relies on your consent, and article 8 of the GDPR lets each European Economic Area country set the age at which that consent stands on its own anywhere between 13 and 16. Sixteen satisfies all of them.

3. Your account

  • Guest mode: you can play without registering; an anonymous account is created, tied to a technical identifier. If you uninstall the app or lose your device without linking the account, your progress may be unrecoverable.
  • Registered account: you can link your guest account to your email, to Google or to Apple without losing progress.
  • You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity carried out from your account.
  • Accounts are personal and non-transferable: selling, assigning, sharing or buying accounts is not allowed.
  • You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

4. Early access

Mythfate is in early access: you can play it normally, but it is still in development. This means:

  • The number of places and the countries where it is available may be limited.
  • Real-money purchases are not active yet: everything you have, you earned by playing or received as a gift.
  • Features, cards, in-game currency prices and systems may change, be added or be removed during this phase. We announce important changes in the game.
  • We have no plans to reset progress when early access ends. We may adjust or remove specific items obtained through a bug or abuse (for example, currency gained through a glitch). If a general reset ever became unavoidable, we would announce it in advance and explain why.
  • Once real-money purchases are enabled, anything you buy with real money will not be removed in any reset without equivalent compensation.

5. Licence to use the game

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use Mythfate on your devices, for personal, non-commercial purposes only, subject to these terms and to the applicable App Store and Google Play terms.

6. Virtual currencies and items

  • Gold, gems, arcane dust, cards, packs and cosmetics ("virtual items") are digital content licensed for use within the game.
  • Virtual items are not money or property: they have no value outside the game, cannot be redeemed for real money, and may not be sold, transferred or traded outside mechanisms offered by the game itself.
  • They are non-refundable, except where mandatory applicable law provides otherwise.
  • We may adjust game balance (card stats and abilities, in-game currency prices, odds and rewards). We only do so for a valid reason —keeping the game fair and fun, fixing bugs, or adapting to legal or technical changes—, at no cost to you, and we announce relevant changes in the game.
  • If a change were to affect your access to content you paid for with real money in more than a minor way, we will notify you in advance and you may terminate the contract free of charge within 30 days of our notice or of the change, whichever is later, with a proportional refund of what you paid and could not enjoy.
  • Unspent purchased gems: if we shut the service down permanently, or close your account without you having breached these terms, we will refund the gems bought with real money that you have not spent. If you delete the account yourself, the game warns you beforehand that any remaining gems and currencies are lost with it; if you are still within the withdrawal period (section 7), exercise it before deleting.

7. Purchases and transparency

Mythfate offers optional in-app purchases (for example gems, specific cards or cosmetics). Card packs are not for sale: they can only be obtained with gold earned by playing or as free rewards. While early access lasts, real-money purchases are disabled (see section 4). Once they are enabled, when you make a purchase:

  • Payment is processed by the App Store or Google Play under their own terms and payment methods. We never access your card details.
  • Every purchase requires your express confirmation before being charged, with the final price (taxes included) shown by the store.
  • Prices in gems are always shown next to their approximate real-money equivalent.
  • Pack drop rates by rarity, card prices and crafting costs are published inside the game.
  • Your purchase and pack-opening history is visible on your profile at all times.
  • Right of withdrawal (EU): if you are a consumer in the European Union you have 14 calendar days to withdraw from the purchase of gems you have not spent. Before charging you, the confirmation dialog expressly asks you to request immediate delivery and warns you that you lose that right over any gems you spend; you keep it over the ones you do not spend for the full 14 days.
  • How to exercise it: from Market > Right of withdrawal, where the game shows you how many gems are still eligible and how long you have left, and from where you can open the request. The form at www.mythfate.com/en/contact.html (option "Withdrawal or refund") or an email to soporte@mythfate.com works too. You do not need to give a reason.
  • Beyond withdrawal, the App Store and Google Play have their own refund mechanisms, which you can use directly. They are an additional route, not the only one: exercising your withdrawal right against us does not depend on the store granting it.

8. Fair play and code of conduct

The following is prohibited:

  • Using cheats, bots, macros, automation or any software that alters the game or provides unfair advantages.
  • Exploiting bugs or glitches for your own benefit (if you find one, report it to support).
  • Manipulating the client, network traffic or match data, or gaining unauthorised access to systems or other people's accounts.
  • Creating multiple accounts to abuse rewards, matchmaking or events.
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling or extracting the game's code or assets, except as expressly permitted by law.

Matches and transactions are validated server-side. Breaching these rules may lead, depending on severity, to: removal of improperly obtained rewards, temporary suspension or permanent account closure.

9. User content

  • Your summoner name may not be offensive, unlawful or misleading, nor impersonate others.
  • You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and display that content within the game while you use it.
  • We may remove or reset names that breach these rules.

10. Intellectual property

The code, art, music, texts, design and mechanics of Mythfate belong to the developer or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. Mythological names and figures belong to our shared cultural heritage; their artistic representation in Mythfate is original and owned by the game. Copying, distributing or creating derivative works from the game's content beyond what these terms or the law allow is not permitted.

11. Availability and changes to the service

  • Mythfate requires an internet connection for online play; the mode against the AI works offline.
  • The service may be temporarily interrupted for maintenance, updates or causes beyond our control. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
  • We may modify or withdraw game features. If the service were to shut down permanently, we would announce it at least 30 days in advance and refund unspent purchased gems (section 6).

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, proportionately to the severity of the breach. You may stop using the game at any time and request deletion of your account and data under the privacy policy.

13. Legal guarantee and liability

  • Legal guarantee: as a consumer you have the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services granted to you by law (in the EU, Directive (EU) 2019/770; in Spain, articles 114 et seq. of the General Law for the Defence of Consumers and Users). If something you acquired does not work as it should, write to us: we will bring it into conformity at no cost and, if that is not possible, you may ask for a proportional price reduction or, if the defect is not minor, terminate the contract and get back what you paid.
  • We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and in any other case where the law does not allow liability to be limited, such as product liability law.
  • For slight negligence we are only liable if we breach an essential contractual obligation (one that makes the game possible and on whose performance you reasonably rely), and in that case up to the typical damage foreseeable when you accepted these terms.
  • Mythfate is an online service in development and may suffer interruptions or errors (section 11). If a fault on our side makes you lose progress or content, we will restore it whenever we can reconstruct it.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights that the consumer law of your country grants you on a mandatory basis.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you act as a consumer resident in the European Union, you retain the protection of the mandatory rules of your country of residence and may bring claims before the courts of your domicile.

15. Match telemetry

To balance cards and fix bugs it helps us to know what happens in real matches. That collection is optional and we ask you about it when you start, in two independent levels:

  • Basic telemetry: mode, duration, how the match ended and which cards and abilities were played. It is stored without your name, email or account and with the date only (details in the privacy policy). If you do not enable it, we record none of your matches.
  • Linking it to your account: adds your identifier to that data so we can look into your specific case if you report a bug. Requires the basic level to be enabled.

You can change both options anytime in Settings > Account. Declining them does not limit the game: it plays exactly the same. Full processing details are in the privacy policy.

16. AI-controlled opponents

Some Yard and competitive matches are played against an opponent controlled by artificial intelligence rather than by another person. We do this so you can always play even when nobody is available to be matched with you, which is common while the community is still small.

That opponent behaves like any other player —it has a name, a level and a rank, and its deck follows the same rules— but it is not a person. We mark it with a badge on the match screen, and we tell you here in compliance with article 50 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 on Artificial Intelligence.

Playing against the AI scores exactly the same as playing against a person: no penalty, no advantage, and the same rewards.

17. Reporting illegal content, and moderation

Mythfate stores and displays content you write —your summoner name, your deck names and the messages you send us— so anyone can let us know if they believe any of it is illegal. This section explains how, and what we do next. It implements articles 16 and 17 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 on Digital Services (the DSA).

How to report: from inside the game, on the player's profile (⋮ menu > Report) or in Settings > Support > New report, choosing the "Report" type; through the form at www.mythfate.com/en/contact.html (option "Legal contact and authorities"); or by writing to soporte@mythfate.com. Tell us what you saw, where (the player name, the screen, a screenshot) and why you believe it is unlawful. You do not need an account to write to us by email or through the form, nor to give us any data beyond an address we can reply to. From the profile menu you can also block a player so they cannot send you requests or challenges.

What we do: we confirm we have received your report —if you file it from the game, the thread itself is the acknowledgement and appears in your inbox immediately—, we review it without undue delay and in a non-arbitrary way, and we tell you what we decided. Decisions are made by a person on the team: we use no automated moderation.

If we moderate you: when we remove or block something of yours, or restrict or close your account, we will tell you exactly what we did, the facts we relied on, which rule in these terms or which law motivated it, and that a person made the decision. We will tell you through the in-game inbox and, if you have an email on file, by email too.

How to challenge it: by replying in that same thread or writing to soporte@mythfate.com. Wherever the team allows, someone other than the person who decided will review it, and we will give you a reasoned answer. None of this removes your right to go to an out-of-court dispute settlement body or to the courts.

Point of contact, for both users and authorities: soporte@mythfate.com and www.mythfate.com/en/contact.html. We answer in Spanish and English, and we also accept messages in Catalan, French and German.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms for valid reasons: changes to the game, to the law or to how we provide the service. If a change is substantial, we will announce it in the game or on the website with reasonable notice and explain what changes.

Substantial changes only apply to you if you accept them: we will ask you to accept them expressly inside the game. Until you accept them, the game will show them to you again when you open it and you will not be able to keep playing. If you do not agree, you can decline them and delete your account at no cost, and we will refund any gems bought with real money that you have not spent.

Minor changes, such as typos or clarifications that do not alter your rights or obligations, apply from the moment they are published.

19. Contact

20. Languages

These terms are available in several languages. The Spanish version is the reference version; if you act as a consumer, any doubt or difference between versions is interpreted in your favour.
